Equity Case 7071
This file consists of the case Bettie Ligon, et. al. v. Douglas H. Johnson, Green McCurtain, James R. Garfield, et. al. The case concerned the 1898 census of the Choctaw and Chickasaw Indians. The plaintiffs alleged that they were placed on the census rolls as freedmen when they should have been enumerated as "Indians by blood".
